Trout stack up in the creeks in the fall. Light tackle jigging or topwater lures are effective and a blast. In the cold of winter getting a bite is a little harder. Spring they start to liven up and the same methods can be applied as they start to move out to the open flats and beaches for the summer. Live minnows are also a great bait as well as shrimp.
