ROCKFISH
The winter months big rockfish move into the Chesapeake Bay from the northern coast. Usually around November through December when they are moving in is the best chance in the lower Chesapeake. Looking for birds or watching a sonar is key. These big rockfish are catch and release only. Smaller rockfish live around structures in the bay and its creeks most of the year. They can be caught on light tackle lures, live bait, and dead bait. Also known as striper or striped bass.
